Cuban Ambassador honoured with friendship insignia

Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén was awarded the “For peace and friendship among nations” insignia of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) in recognition of his contributions to the two countries’ relations.

Hanoi (VNA)꧑ – Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén was awarded the “For peace and friendship among nations” insignia of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) in recognition of his contributions to the two countries’ relations.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony, VUFO President Phan Anh Son acknowledged the ambassador's efforts in enhancing the long-standing friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba during his tenure in Vietnam from 2021 to present. He said the diplomat has coordinated with agencies and organisations of Vietnam in consolidating and developing traditional friendship and special solidarity between the two countries across aspects, especially strengthening the ties and raising mutual understanding between Vietnamese and Cuban people, thus contributing to deepening bilateral ties.
During his tenure in Vietnam, the ambassador has worked closely with the VUFO, the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, and various Vietnamese agencies to organise numerous cultural events and commemorative activities. His involvement in the VUFO’s annual programmes and activities has been instrumental to their success.
Son expressed his belief that Ambassador Hernández Guillén will continue to make contributions to the Vietnam-Cuba relationship in any future role. For his part, the ambassador expressed his gratitude to the invaluable support of the VUFO and other Vietnamese agencies during his tenure, and reaffirmed his dedication to fostering the Vietnam-Cuba relationship in the years ahead./.
