Havana (VNA) – Two Vietnamese-invested enterprises in Cuba - Thai Binh Global (wholly Vietnamese-owned) and Suchel TBV joint venture - have been awarded the title of national pioneer unit by the Cuban national industrial federation (SNTI) in recognition of their outstanding contributions to production, trade union activities and social responsibility.

The award ceremony was held on April 25 at the Mariel Special Development Zone, with the attendance of Isdalys Rodríguez Rodríguez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, and local authorities.

Speaking at the event, SNTI Secretary-General Yaquelín Baños Torres stated that this award stands as a testament to the enduring friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

Despite suffering significant damage from Hurricane Rafael in 2023, Suchel TBV recorded impressive growth, increasing revenue by 13.8 million USD and raising its production of detergent and cleaning products by an additional 8,200 tonnes. Meanwhile, Thai Binh Global — the first company in Cuba to produce disposable nappies and sanitary products and wet wipes— has actively supported social programmes across the provinces of Artemisa, Pinar del Río, Matanzas and Guantánamo.

In addition to the two Vietnamese enterprises, five other companies operating within the Mariel Special Development Zone were also honoured the title of pioneer unit./.
