Da Nang, Quang Ninh welcome first foreign visitors in Lunar New Year

Da Nang (VNA) – The first international flightcarrying 180 passengers landed at the Da Nang International Airport on thefirst day of the Lunar New Year (February 5).
The guests came to the central city on a VietJet Air flightcoded VJ881 from Seoul’s Incheon International Airport.
Upon their arrival, they were treated to an enticing welcomeceremony with flower bouquets, gifts, lucky money, art performances, anintroduction to Vietnam’s traditions to mark the beginning of a lunar year, anda lucky draw.
According to the municipal Tourism Department, as ofDecember 2018, there were 23 direct international routes to Da Nang, with morethan 328 flights per week. The central hub hosted some 2.35 million visitors byair last year, up 48.7 percent from 2017.
Also in 2018, the Da Nang International Airport served80,745 commercial flights and 13.2 million passengers, representing respective annualincreases of 17.2 and 22.5 percent. It set a target of pushing the figures to87,853 flights and over 14.8 million passengers this year.
The same day, about 400 ships carrying 8,000 tourists,mainly foreigners, to the UNESCO-recognised world natural heritage Ha Long Bayin the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh.-VNA
Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air will operate 2,500 additional flights to serve passengers during the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays and the 2019 festive season, offering over 500,000 tickets to customers.
Domestic airlines have announced that there will be an additional 3,650 flights to 19 internal airports to meet the increasing travel demand during the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2019, lifting the total number flights for the holiday period to 28,500, up 8.7 percent year-on-year.
