Da Nang ready for 13th ASEAN Schools Games

Da Nang (VNA)🌠 – The central city of Da Nang is ready for the 13th ASEAN Schools Games (ASG) which is taking place from May 29 to June 9.

The opening ceremony of the Games will be held on June 1. The event has attracted about 1,300 athletes and coaches from 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The athletes will compete in 107 events of six sports namely swimming, athletics, badminton, basketball, Pencak Silat, and Vovinam. The city's authorities and relevant agencies completed preparations for the Games. Streets and the ASG venues across the city have been decorated to welcome the athletes.
Tran Cong Tu, Director of the Da Nang Sports Centre, said that the centre is assigned to organise the flag raising ceremony, ASG opening and closing ceremonies and five venues for swimming, athletics, Vovinam, Pencak Silat and badminton. He said the central mobilised all of its staff to speed up preparations and meet requirements of the ASG organising committee. Phan Vu Thuy Duyen, a 3rd-year student of the Da Nang University of Foreign Languages, said she is excited to work as a volunteer at the ASG as she can learn and get good experience from the athletes./.
