Da Nang tapped to tranform into international financial centre

Da Nang (VNA) – Deputy head of the PartyCentral Committee's Economic Commission Nguyen Hong Son on March 13 asked DaNang to work harder to implement the project on developing the central city intoan international financial centre at the regional scale.
The official made the request while addressing aconference jointly held by the Economic Commission and the municipal PartyCommittee to review the five-year implementation of the Politburo’s ResolutionNo. 43-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2019 on building and developing Da Nang by 2030,with a vision towards 2045.
Son said Da Nang should further study and popularise relevantresolutions to be better aware of its role and position, as well as developmenttargets and tasks, while reviewing special mechanisms and policies adopted bythe National Assembly and the Government to make suitable adjustments,especially those regarding the pilot of an urban administration model.
Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen VanQuang reported that Da Nang has issued 12 programmes and plans to materialisethe Politburo’s resolution, and completed 113 set tasks (21.5%) so far.
According to Quang, the locality is focused onpersonnel training to serve semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI),among other fields.
Highlighting significant achievements Da Nang has gainedin IT application, digital transformation, smart city building, and in ensuringnational defence-security and improving people’s living standards, he said theyserve as an important foundation for the city to develop rapidly andsustainably in the time ahead.
He also admitted shortcomings like modest, unstableeconomic growth and limited development resources.
The participants touched upon solutions to enhanceregional connectivity, boost the marine economic sector, develop high-qualitypersonnel and attract investments in Da Nang./.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang city People's Committee Ho Ky Minh on March 6 called on TheCityUK, the industry-led body representing UK-based financial and related professional services, to coordinate with the Vietnamese central locality in building an international financial centre (IFC) there as soon as possible.
The Vietnam Railway Corporation and the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial People’s Committee are actively working to soon introduce train trips between the two cities of Hue and Da Nang.
The central coastal city of Da Nang is moving towards developing a semiconductor industry to restructure its economy towards high technology. To that end, the city has established a Semiconductor Training Centre, while local universities have also conducted courses to train students for the sector.
A delegation of China’s Shandong province led by its Vice Governor Song Junji paid a visit to the central city of Da Nang on March 12, which was expected to contribute to enhancing cooperation between the two localities in the time ahead.
