Da Nang wins smart city award

The central city of Da Nang has won an Asia-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (Asocio) Smart City Award for its outstanding initiatives of a smart city during the Asocio Smart City Summit in Bangkok, Thailand.

Da Nang (VNA) – The centralcity of Da Nang has won an Asia-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation(Asocio) Smart City Award for its outstanding initiatives of a smart cityduring the Asocio Smart City Summit in Bangkok, Thailand.

Deputy Director of the centralcity’s information and communications Pham Ngoc Thach said the award,which was presented in Bangkok on August 29, resulted from efforts by the cityin building Da Nang as a ‘smart’ urban area.

🐻 Thach said the smart city awardfocused on indexes of happiness, smart infrastructure, online public service,economic growth, education and development research.

Da Nang was one of eight citiesfrom 24 economic members of the Asocio to receive the smart city award thisyear.

The deputy director said Da Nangis planning to become a ‘smart city’ and the first in Vietnam tojoin the ASEAN ‘smart’ city network by 2030.

The city approved the frameworkplan in 2018 with information and technology infrastructure.

The plan focuses on smartmanagement, smart economy, smart environment, smart living, smart citizens andsmart traffic to build the city’s link with the 126 strong ‘smartcity’ network.

♔ Da Nang was the first city in Vietnamto launch an e-government system in 2014, and transferred the system to 16cities and provinces in 2016. According to a report, Da Nang’s e-governmentsystem had been used by 225 agencies.-VNA

🐠 PM calls for cooperation with Sweden in nuclear energy technology

The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.
