Hanoi(VNA) – Pop star Dam Vinh Hung will represent Vietnam to vie for the “BestSoutheast Asia Act” at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2017 (MTV EMA).
Hung will competealongside other sensations in the region, such as Isyana Sarasvati fromIndonesia, Faizal Tahir from Malaysia, James Reid from the Philippines and TheSam Willows from Singapore.
The MTV EMA willtake place in Wembley, London, the UK on November 12 and be broadcast live onMTV. Rita Ora, a major pop singer inBritain, will serve as host of the show in her hometown.
This year, American singer Taylor Swiftled with six nominations, including Best Artist and Best Video for LookWhat You Made Me Do.
Young Canadian sensationShawn Mendes was second with five nominations, followed at four nods each forEnglish songwriter Ed Sheeran and rapper Kendrick Lamar.
Vietnamese pop star DongNhi won the category at the 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA) inRotterdam, the Netherlands. This was the first time the EMA has awarded theBest Southeast Asian Act as a separate category, which previously served as asubcategory for the Best Asian Act award at previous EMA’s.
Dong Nhi became the firstrecognised winner for the category, despite two other Vietnamese pop stars SonTung M-TP and My Tam having topped Southeast Asian voting in 2015 and 2013respectively. -VNA
Vietnamese pop star Dong Nhi won the Best Southeast Asian Act at the 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA) which took place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in early morning November 7 (Hanoi time).
Young pop star Son Tung M-TP has won the SBS Pop Asia 2017’s Best Solo Release presented by SBS PopAsia, an Australian music radio programme that broadcasts recent Asian pop hits online and on radio.

The U23 competition will run from June 16 to 22, followed by the U17 event from June 23 to 28, while athletes competing in the U23 category will undergo weight and skill checks ahead of the matches starting June 18, while similar checks for U17 athletes will take place before June 23.
Vietnam continues to sit just behind continental powerhouses Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, China, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
