Hanoi (VNA) – Permanent DeputyPrime Minister Truong Hoa Binh has directed all possible medical support forvictims in a crash between a truck and a coach in the Central Highlandsprovince of Gia Lai on early May 7.
The collision occurred at 4:35am at Km1632100 on Ho Chi Minh road running across Chu Se district, claiming 12 lives andinjuring 23 others.
The truck is registered in the central province of Binh Dinh while the coach isfrom the northern province of Nam Dinh.
Binh, who is also Chairman of theNational Traffic Safety Committee, asked Deputy Chairman Khuat Viet Hung andDeputy Transport Minister Le Dinh Tho to arrive at the scene as soon aspossible and work closely with the municipal authorities and the provincial TrafficSafety Committee to help with recovery efforts.
Authorities and heads of the TrafficSafety Committees of Nam Dinh and Binh Dinh were also required to coordinatewith Gia Lai provincial authorities to visit and offer assistance to familiesof victims as well as the ongoing investigation.
The businesses owning the vehicles inthe accident will be put under a thorough inspection.
The Transport Ministry was taskedwith directing the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam to strengthen datasupervision via journey surveillance equipment and alert transport departments totraffic law violations if found. At the same time, the ministry must inspectthe enforcement of laws on transport business, the grant of driving licenses,and technical safety of four-wheeled vehicles in localities, among others.-VNA
