Hanoi (VNA) – DeputyPrime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has asked the Chinese province of Guangdong toimport more Vietnamese products, especially farm produce such as rice, fruitand milk.

During a meeting withVice Governor of Guangdong province Ouyang Weimin in Hanoi on August 27, theDeputy PM spoke highly of Guangdong’s socio-economic achievements and affirmedthat Vietnam hopes to bolster practical cooperation and friendship between itsministries, sectors, and localities with the Chinese province.

Noting that Guangdong hasthe biggest trade volume with Vietnam among Chinese localities, Dung askedGuangdong to continue to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businessesand goods, as well as to encourage more enterprises in Guangdong to invest inVietnam.

He also suggested thesides increase the exchange of delegations of all levels and foster result-orientedcooperation.

For his part, Ouyang Weiminreiterated that Guangdong authorities and people always value cooperation inall fields with Vietnam, adding that their geographical proximity and largemarket scale are significant advantages to boost bilateral cooperation.

He pledged that in thecoming time, the Chinese province will continue to closely join hands withministries, sectors and localities of Vietnam to strengthen economic, trade andinvestment partnership, thus facilitating Vietnam’s export to Guangdong andboosting people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in culture, education andscience.

Guangdong is the onlyChinese locality that has a cooperation mechanism with ministries, sectors andlocalities of Vietnam. In 2018, the trade turnover between Vietnam andGuangdong hit 37.16 billion USD, up 34.2 percent, accounting for 25.1 percentof the Vietnam-China trade turnover.-VNA
