DPRK leader extends greetings to Vietnam on diplomatic ties

Seoul (VNA) – Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DemocraticPeople’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un on January 31 sent a message of greetingsto Vietnam’s top leader on the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam-DPRKdiplomatic ties.

Inhis message to Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong,the DPRK leader affirmed his resolve to develop the relationship between thetwo countries.

Thefriendly relations, founded by DPRK leader Kim Il-sung and Vietnamese PresidentHo Chi Minh, have been steadily developed in the joint struggle for thesocialist cause for the past 70 years, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) quotedhis message as highlighting.

Kimalso expressed his belief that the relations between the two countries would continueto develop in depth in the spirit of the agreement they reached during ameeting in Hanoi in March last year.

Heis the first DPRK leader to pay an official visit to Vietnam over the past 55years. His predecessor Kim Il-sung visited the Southeast Asian nation in 1958and 1964./.
