Hanoi (VNA) – Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the DPRK’sWorkers’ Party of Korea, continued to run stories on February 26 on DPRK leaderKim Jong-un’s trip to Vietnam for his second summit with US President DonaldTrump.
The newspaper said that Kim arrived in Vietnam’s border province of Lang Sonafter more than 60 hours of travelling by train all the way from Pyongyangthrough China. He then finished the last stretch to Hanoi by car for the upcomingmeeting with Trump on February 27.
In an editorial on its front page, Rodong Sinmun said that the whole countryhas been joyful since hearing their leader left for Hanoi to attend theDPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam. It laid stressed on Kim’s efforts to prove hiscountry’s value and position in the international community.
DPRK media first reported on their leader’s visit to Vietnam on February 24,with the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reporting that Kim started off onhis special train on February 23, departing from Pyongyang to reach Hanoi forthe summit with Trump and to pay an official friendship visit to Vietnam.
The second DPRK-USA summit will take place on February 27-28, following thefirst summit in Singapore in June last year, during which both leaders agreedon the DPRK’s denuclearisation on the Korean peninsula in exchange for securityassurance from the US.
This time round, they are expected to deal with specific steps in the DPRK’s denuclearisationmeasures as well as the US’ s corresponding moves such as loosening of economicsanctions against the DPRK. –VNA
