Dutch cyclist triumphs at VTV Int’l Cycling Tournament

HCM City (VNA) - 🎐David Van Eerd of the Netherlands’ Global Cycling Team won the overallyellow jersey of the VTV International Cycling Tournament – Ton Hoa Sen Cupwhich concluded in Ho Chi Minh City on September 16.
Eerd won the event’smost coveted prize with the best overall time of 42:59.47 after 14 stages, andwalked away with 200 million VND (8,700 USD) in prize money. The green jersey forthe best sprinter went to Im Jae-yeon of the Republic of Korea’s Korail CycleTeam’s with 234 points, ahead of Jan Paul Morales of the Philippine Navy on 75points. Sarda Perez Javier of Vietnam’sLoc Troi Group won the red jersey as King of Mountain, while the white jerseyfor the best young cyclist went to Purnomo Setiawan of Indonesia’s PGN. Indonesia’s PGN seizedthe first place in the team category, followed by the Philippine Navy andGlobal Cycling Team. Phan Hoang Thai ofDomesco Dong Thap is the sole Vietnamese cyclist who made himself onto the listof 10 most outstanding athletes of the tournament, standing at the eighth spotin overall ranking. Meanwhile, Huynh ThanhTung of Military Region 7 was ranked 11th and Nguyen Tan Hoai of Domesco DongThap was at the 14th place. Im Jae-yeon won thetournament’s last stage from Dong Xoai town in southern Binh Phuoc province toHCM City on September 16, covering 136km in a time of 3:12.28.
The annual event, whichwas co-organised by VTV and the Vietnam Cycling Federation, attracted 80 cyclistsfrom six domestic cycling teams and six foreign clubs, competing over 14 stagescovering 1,800km.

The 2018 Ho Chi Minh City Television Cycling Tournament kicked off in the northern province of Lang Son on March 30, drawing nearly 100 cyclists from 13 teams.

The I-on Health Cup Race was held in Hue City, the capital of the central province of Thua Thien Hue on August 25 to kick start the Coupe De Hue cycling tournament, which attracts over 700 local and foreign riders.
