Egyptian President concludes Vietnam visit

Hanoi (VNA) ♍– Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi concluded his two-dayState visit to Vietnam on September 7 with fruitful results.

Duringhis stay, the Egyptian leader paid a courtesy call to Party General SecretaryNguyen Phu Trong, held talks with President Tran Dai Quang, and had meetingswith Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman NguyenThi Kim Ngan. Heattended the Vietnam-Egypt business forum. He paid tribute to late President HoChi Minh at his mausoleum and laid a wreath at the Heroic Martyrs’ Monument in Hanoi. Atthe meetings, the two sides shared delight at the outcomes of the first visitby a Egyptian President, describing it as an important milestone in thedevelopment of the traditional friendship and all-round cooperation betweenVietnam and Egypt. Theyagreed to increase the exchange of delegations through Government, NationalAssembly, locality, and people-to-people links and connection betweenthe two business communities, along with continuously promoting the efficiency of the existing cooperation mechanisms such as the Intergovernmental Committee andpolitical consultations, thus strengthening mutual understanding. Theyconcurred to work closely together to organise activities celebrating the 55th anniversary of  diplomatic ties in 2018. Alongwith bolstering bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, the two sideswill create optimal conditions for businesses of both sides to access the respective markets, aiming to raise two-way trade to 1 billion USD in the future. The Vietnameseand Egyptian leaders agreed to beef up collaboration in the fields of standards and quality,while increasing cultural exchange activities, including the organisation of cultural days andweeks in the respective countries. Bothsides were delighted to see the sound affiliation between the two countries atregional and international forums, including mutual support for each other in running for seats in United Nations agencies. Theyemphasised their wishes and determination to maintain maritime order suitable toprinciples of international law shown in the UN Convention on the Law of theSea (UNCLOS). Onthe occasion, President Tran Dai Quang and his Egyptian counterpart witnessedthe signing of nine cooperation agreements in various fields. Thetwo sides also issued a joint statement on the visit.-VNA
