Embassy commemorates Algerian journalists dying in 1974 Hanoi plane crash
A delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria visited the memorial on the street named Journalistes du Vietnam 8/3/1974 in Algiers capital city on March 8 to commemorate the Algerian journalists who died in a plane crash on the outskirts of Hanoi in 1974.

Algiers (VNA) – A delegation of the VietnameseEmbassy in Algeria visited the memorial on the street named Journalistes duVietnam 8/3/1974 in Algiers capital city on March 8 to commemorate the Algerianjournalists who died in a plane crash on the outskirts of Hanoi in 1974.
The commemoration was attended by representatives of thelocal administration, the Algeria - Vietnam Friendship Association, and the provisionalliaison board of the Vietnamese People Association in the North Africancountry.

Both Vietnam and Algeria built monuments in eachcountry to commemorate the accident. In Vietnam, a monument was inaugurated at thescene of the accident in Soc Son during then Algerian President AbdelazizBouteflika’s State visit in October 2000. In Algeria, the memorial was placed on the Journalistes du Vietnam8/3/1974 street in Algiers in 2013.
The annual commemoration reflects Vietnamesepeople’s tradition of expressing gratitude to those who contributed to thedevelopment of the two countries’ long-standing friendship.
On March 7, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Vinh attendeda forum held by Algeria’s national daily El Moudjahid to pay tribute tothe journalists who died in the 1974 accident. The event also saw the presenceof former Algerian Ambassador to Vietnam Cherif Chikhi, colleagues of thevictims, war veterans, and representatives of local media agencies./.
The authorities and businesses from Constantine province of Algeria want to step up cooperation with Vietnam and learn from the country’s experience in such areas as aquaculture, tourism, and garment-textile, said Riad Larkem, a representative from the province’s Rhummel Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR).
The Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria hosted a ceremony in Algiers on October 29 to mark the 60th founding anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries (October 28, 1962 - 2022).

It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.

In the context where AI dominates and produces vast volumes of content, the only sustainable path forward for journalism is to focus on high-quality content and core values. Journalism must redefine its mission - not to report the fastest, but to provide the most profound and trustworthy value.
Granma and the VNA have great potential for cooperation, especially in sharing content regularly, so that VNA products are published on Granma platforms and vice versa, thereby helping Cuban and Vietnamese people access true information and gain a deep understanding of each other's country and people.
