Embassy in Malaysia works to protect Doan Thi Huong’s rights
Representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia and Malaysian lawyers defending Doan Thi Huong, a Vietnamese suspect in the murder of DPRK citizen Kim Chol, were present at the High Court of Shah Alam City on July 28 to protect her legitimate rights and interests.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy inMalaysia and Malaysian lawyers defending Doan Thi Huong, a Vietnamese suspect in themurder of Democratic People’s Republic of Koreacitizen Kim Chol, were present at the High Court ofShah Alam City on July 28 to protect her legitimate rights and interests.
After the trial concluded, the embassy’s representatives and lawyers discussedwith Huong about following litigation procedures.
In the time ahead, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continueclose coordination with domestic agencies involved, the Vietnamese embassy inMalaysia and Malaysian lawyers to ensureHuong's legitimate rights and interests are protected.
Doan Thi Huong, 28, is one of the two womensuspects in the murder of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) mannamed Kim Chol at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on February 13.
Malaysia said Kim Chol was poisoned, but the DPRK insisted that he diedof a heart attack, plus high blood pressure and diabetes.
At the court hearing on March 1, the two women were charged with murder butthey denied and said that they were cheated to take part in an innocuous prank.
According to the Malaysian law, they would face the death penalty if foundguilty.-VNA
Measures to protect Vietnamese citizens involved in several incidents in other countries were clarified by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang at a regular press conference in Hanoi on May 25.
The Sepang district court in Malaysia’s Selangor State held the third hearing on May 30 on the case of the murder of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) citizen Kim Chol.
The two suspects, one of whom is a Vietnamese national, in the case of the murder of DPRK citizen Kim Chol will appear before the Shah Alam high court in Selangor state on July 28.
The Shah Alam High Court of Malaysia announced on July 28 that the trial of Vietnamese citizen Doan Thi Huong and Indonesian citizen Siti Aisyah will last for 23 days, till the end of this November.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
