An English course for 18 officers from the Vietnamese Defence Ministry opened in Ho Chi Minh City on September 21 as part of a cooperation programme between the two defence ministries Vietnam and the UK.
During the nine-month course provided by the British Council, trainees will be equipped with essential English skills for their professionals. Participants with high results after the course will be eligible to attend other courses in the UK’s advanced military command training programme. Over 100 military officers have completed the similar language courses, funded by the UK Ministry of Defence since 2012. This year’s programme is set to expand the initiative with more than 70 officials to be trained in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The programme is within an agreement framework that two sides agreed to lift up, including training, industrial defence and marine security cooperation.-VNA
