EU, Indonesia commit to green economic development

Jakarta (VNA) 🍸– Indonesian Minister for National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa and European Union (EU)  Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei VincentPiket launched the publication EU-Indonesia Cooperation 2020: “BuildingCapacity for Green Growth” during an online event on September 17.

Talkingwith the press, Monoarfa said the publication encapsulatesefforts in advancing sustainable development to mitigate the impacts of climatechange as well as highlights key achievements of the EU and its member states’development programmes with Indonesia. Accordingto him, Indonesia-EU cooperation will support economic growth, health system,education, social inclusion, and environmental protection. AmbassadorPiket, for his part, said the EU recently launched a “Team Europe” package to support Indonesia’s response tothe coronavirus pandemic. Looking forward, cooperation with Indonesiawill include innovative methods to finance the green transition, urbandevelopment and the sustainable management of natural resources. Lastyear, over 1,600 annual scholarships were awarded toIndonesian students through the EU’s Erasmus programme and its member states’scholarship schemes./.
