Exhibition in Singapore features Vietnamese wartime artists

Singapore (VNA) –
An exhibition named“Wartime Artists of Vietnam” is being held at the NUS Museum under the NationalUniversity of Singapore from October 30, 2019 to June 1, 2020.

On display are 200 works taken from thecollection of Dato’ N Parameswaran, the former Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam whoserved from 1990-1993, and include drawings, woodcuts, posters and paintings,along with excerpts from poems and memoirs.

The focus of the exhibition, the fourth of itskind, is the works of eight Vietnamese wartime artists: Huynh Phuong Dong, PhamLuc, Nguyen Thanh Chau, Huy Toan, Pham Thanh Tam, Huynh Van Thuan, Le Tri Dungand Van Da.

Its theme was taken from a line in the poem “Asoldier speaks of his generation (1973)”, which reads “…our generation hasnever slept”.

In 2015-2016, the NUS Museum held exhibitions onVietnam’s history during the 1954-1975 period./.
