Exploring 12 impressive trekking routes in Thanh Hoa forests

Hanoi (VNA)ไ - The north-central province of Thanh Hoa is not only famous for its beautiful beaches and important historical sites but also as an ideal destination for people who love to explore nature, especially for trekking in the forests.

Recently, the Thanh Hoa provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism announced various trekking routes in mountainous districts across the province. The 12 trekking routes extend through the districts of Ba Thuoc, Quan Hoa, and Thuong Xuan, providing tourists with adventurous challenges and excellent opportunities to explore the pristine natural beauty and learn about the culture and history of the local ethnic communities.

1. Pu Luong peak in Ba Thuoc district

Pu Luong peak, standing at 1,700m above sea level, is one of the most famous spots for trekking in Thanh Hoa. This path takes visitors through pristine forests, lush valleys, and the traditional villages of the Thai and Muong ethnic groups. Pu Luong peak is not only ideal for admiring nature's beauty but also offers visitors a chance to learn about the unique culture of the local communities.

2. Con Soi (Wolf) mount in Ba Thuoc district

If you love challenges and adventure, the Con Soi mount trekking route is the perfect choice. This route is quite demanding, passing through dense forests and steep slopes, but in return, you will witness the stunning beauty of the untouched nature that surrounds you. The mountain juts skyward off the horizontal landscape casting a shape so unique that it can captivate trekkers who seek distinctive destinations.

3. Pu Luong- Con Soi mount route

Combining the Pu Luong Peak and Con Soi mount routes, this journey provides an excellent experience of nature's diversity and landscape. This route not only offers visitors an opportunity to conquer two high peaks but also allows exploration of pristine forests and the villages of the Thai ethnic group. 4. Pu Luong heritage route in Ba Thuoc and Quan Hoa districts

The Pu Luong heritage route is an inter-district trekking path connecting Ba Thuoc and Quan Hoa. This route not only allows visitors to explore the rich ecosystem of Pu Luong but also learn about the historical and cultural values of the local ethnic communities. Tourists will experience majestic natural landscapes, with lush terraced fields, beautiful waterfalls, and traditional villages.

5. Pu Hu peak in Quan Hoa district

The 1,440-m Pu Hu peak is one of the highest mountains in Quan Hoa district. The trekking route to the peak will take visitors through pristine forests, rich in biodiversity, and offer breathtaking views from above. From the peak, visitors can gaze far and wide, admiring the majestic mountain landscapes of Thanh Hoa.

6. "Cho" (Terminalia myriocarpa) heritage tree in Quan Hoa district

The three “Cho” trees aged over 500 years old in Pu Luong Nature Reserve were recognised as Vietnam's heritage trees. These are among the largest ancient trees in the country. The trekking route to the trees will lead visitors through vast forests, where aged trees and a rich tropical ecosystem thrive. This is an opportunity for tourists to learn about rare tree species and enjoy the fresh air of nature.

7. Pu Hu peak - “Cho” heritage tree trekking route

The combined route offers a long, challenging, yet incredibly exciting journey. Visitors will enjoy diverse natural landscapes, from high peaks to dense pristine forests, home to rare animal species.

8. Pu Gio peak in Thuong Xuan district

The Pu Gio peak trekking route in Thuong Xuan district is an ideal for those who love challenges. At the height of 1,600m, Pu Gio is one of the tallest peaks in the district. Trekkers on this route can go through pristine forests, see beautiful waterfalls, and many spectacular natural landscapes.

9. Heritage Tree trekking route in Thuong Xuan district

The Pơmu and Samu tree cluster in Xuan Lien Nature Reserve in Thuong Xuan district is considered the largest of its kind in the North-central region of Vietnam, with many centennial trees, including one nearly 1,500 years old. Among them, two trees, one Pơmu and the other Samu, are identified as over 1,000 years old and have been recognised as some of Vietnam's oldest heritage trees. The trekking route to see the trees will take visitors deep into the forest, where giant ancient trees and a rich biodiversity exist. This is a wonderful opportunity for tourists to learn about rare tree species while enjoying the pristine beauty of nature.

10. Route for watching grey langurs and black gibbons in Thuong Xuan district.

It is a challenging and exciting path, where tourists can not only enjoy beautiful mountainous landscapes but also learn about the historical and cultural values of the area./.
