Festival spotlights Hue’s cultural heritage

A kaleidoscope of festive activities will be held throughout 2024 in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue in the framework of the Hue Festival 2024, the provincial People’s Committee said on January 1.

Thua Thien – Hue (VNA) – A kaleidoscope of festive activities willbe held throughout 2024 in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue in the framework of the Hue Festival 2024, the provincial People’s Committee said on January 1.

Themed “Cultural heritage with international integration and development”, the eventwill feature an array of standout festivals, including Spring Festival from Januaryto March, Summer Festival from April to June, Autumn Festival from July toSeptember, and Winter Festival from October to December, and hundreds ofresponse activities.

Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre Hoang Viet Trung said that thefestival will continue capitalising on the royal, religious and traditionalfestivals while aiming at developing the new ones, turning them into localtourism products that help promote the province’s socio-economic development.

The province debuted the Hue Festival 2024 byperforming the Ban Soc (royal calendar delivery) ceremony – the event thatkings under the Nguyen Dynasty organised to distribute calendars for royalmandarins at Ngo Mon (Noon Gate). Ordinary people received the calendar in their localities.

Hue Festival, held for 24 years, is one of the keyinternational art event in Vietnam.

The local administration has been reviving the wearingof traditional ao dai (long dresses) in the community on festivals and special daysof the year to promote the beauty and value of the Hue-based 300-year-olddress.

Hue, the imperial capital in Vietnam for over 100 years, has been a uniquedestination in central Vietnam with its five UNESCO heritage: theancient citadel relic complex, Hue royal court music, Nguyen Dynasty’s woodenblocks, Nguyen Dynasty’s royal administrative documents, and literature on Hueroyal architecture./.
