First Vietnamese vocational school to receive UNESCO standard

The LILAMA 2 Technical and Technology College in the southern province of Dong Nai has become the first vocational school in Vietnam to provide training programmes under Level 6 (665) of the 8-level UNESCO-ISCED 2011 standards.

The announcement was recently made by its Vice Principal Nguyen Khanh Cuong.

Theschool will enrol 150 students for the 2015-2016 academic year inwelding technology, industrial electronics and mechanical toolmanufacturing.

After graduating, based on UNESCO standards,students will receive British Accreditation Council qualifications whichare accepted in more than 80 countries around the world.

TheInternational Standard Classification of Education (or ISCED) wasdeveloped by UNESCO to facilitate comparisons of education statisticsand indicators across countries on the basis of uniform andinternationally agreed upon definitions.

In 2011, a revision to the ISCED was formally adopted by UNESCO member states.-VNA
