First working day of 15th National Assembly’s fifth session

The 15th National Assembly (NA)’s fifth session entered its first working day in Hanoi on May 22 under the chair of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Hanoi (VNA) - The 15th National Assembly (NA)’s fifth session entered its first working day in Hanoi on May 22 under the chair of NAChairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

In the morning, the NA discussed and voted to approve the session’s agenda,with 471 out of 476 participating deputies voting 'yes'.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai delivered a report on supplementary assessmentson outcomes of the socio-economic development and State budget plans in 2022 andthe implementation of such plans for the first months of this year. Chairman ofthe NA Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh verified what Khai had reported at theNA.

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) CentralCommittee Do Van Chien presented a report on people's petitions to this session, while Chairman ofthe NA Standing Committee’s Ombudsman Commission Duong Thanh Binh reported on supervision results of the settlement of petitions submitted to the legislature's fourth session.

The working day saw the deputies discussing the personnelwork and considering other important issues.

Accordingly, the NA approved a resolution relieving Nguyen Phu Cuong from theposts of member of the NA Standing Committee and Chairman of the NAFinance-Budget Committee. The legislature also passed resolutions approving thePrime Minister’s proposals on the relief of Minister of Natural Resources andEnvironment Tran Hong Ha for the 2021-2026 term; and on the appointment of DangQuoc Khanh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ha Giang province, as Ministerof Natural Resources and Environment.

The NA also decided that Le Quang Manh – member of the 13th Party CentralCommittee, Secretary of the Can Tho city Party Committee, and head of themunicipal delegation of 15th NA deputies – holds the posts of member of theNA Standing Committee and Chairman of the NA's Finance - Budget Committee.

On May 25, the NA will hold a live-broadcast plenary session,considering thrift practice and wastefulness prevention in 2022; the draft law andordinance development programme for 2024 and amendments to the 2023 programme; and the State budget serving the implementation tasks and projects under the socio-economicdevelopment and recovery programme./.
