Jakarta (VNA)♎ - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs announced on February 23 that it has dispatched emergency aid items worth 568 million IDR (34.700 USD) to residents grappling with floods in Bandar Lampung city of Lampung province, and its surroundings.

According to Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, aid items consisting of food, clothing and medicine have been mobilised from the social barn in Palembang in South Sumatra, and distributed to residents in flood-hit areas across Bandar Lampung city, and South Lampung and Pesawaran districts.
The official informed that the ministry had prepared additional relief supplies worth nearly 1.5 billion IDR (91.800 USD) in anticipation of future disasters. The government will provide financial support to families who have lost property to help them stablise their lives, he stressed, adding that all forms of assistance reflect the government's commitment to those affected by natural disasters. Following high-intensity rain since early February 23, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) has issued a danger warning for residents of Bandar Lampung city. Rising water levels have submerged at least 2,180 houses across three areas. Residents have been evacuated to safer locations./.
