Foreign ministries work to propel Vietnam-Germany ties forward
The foreign ministries of Vietnam and Germany will work to enhance the two countries’ cooperation in various fields, particularly trade, investment, education, labour, vocational training, tourism, and technology.

Berlin (VNA) – The foreignministries of Vietnam and Germany will work to enhance the two countries’cooperation in various fields, particularly trade, investment, education,labour, vocational training, tourism, and technology.
Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and ForeignMinister Pham Binh Minh and German Minister of Foreign Affairs Sigmar Gabrielreached the consensus at a bilateral meeting in Bonn on February 16. Minh isthere for a meeting of G20 foreign ministers on February 16-17
The two sides expressed their pleasure at thegrowing strategic partnership between Vietnam and Germany. Germany is currently one of the biggest trade partnersof Vietnam in the European Union.
Deputy PM and FM Minh proposed Germany urge theEU to finalise the legal revision for the early signing of the EU-Vietnam FreeTrade Agreement (EVFTA) in 2017, and recognise Vietnam’s market economy statusat the same time.
He hailed Germany for inviting Vietnam – as thehost of the APEC Year 2017 - to attend the meeting of G20 foreign ministers,and took this occasion to invite Germany to participate in some APEC events inVietnam.
Both ministers agreed that the agenda andpriorities of G20 and APEC this year share a lot of similarities. Therefore, it is necessary tostrengthen coordination between the two to maintain peace and stability in theregion and around the world as well as promote sustainable development, tradeconnectivity and liberalisation.
They also exchanged regional and international issues ofmutual concerns such as enhancing collaboration at global forums, includingthat of the United Nations.
Minh welcomed Germany to become a developmentpartner of ASEAN from 2016 and hoped the European country will further supportASEAN in such key fields as green technology, agriculture, development,infrastructure, education, environment, climate change adaptation, naturaldisaster response.
The EU and particularly Germany are expected tostrongly advocate the settlement of any disputes via peaceful means andinternational law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea(UNCLOS), to make active contributions to ensuring navigation and overflightsafety and security in the region, he added.-VNA
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said Vietnam wants German investors to invest more in the country, particularly in hi-tech manufacturing, renewable energy, infrastructure, and logistics.
The fifth dialogue between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Social Democratic Party of Germany, themed “Developing small and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam and Germany”, opened in Hanoi.
President Tran Dai Quang asked the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital in particular and the health care sector in general for strengthening scientific research, technological application, and personnel training to improve services.
At the conference, participants reported that the Government has so far issued 28 decrees on the delegation of responsibilities and powers between the central Government and two-tier local administrations. Several localities have already piloted the new governance model.
