Foreign Ministry works on case of missing Vietnamese tourists in Taiwan

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said on December 26 that it is working to clarify details on the case of 152 missing Vietnamese tourists who were suspected of fleeing in Taiwan.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said on December 26 that it is working to clarify details on the case of 152 missing Vietnamese tourists who were suspected of fleeing in Taiwan.

Accordingly, the ministry has instructed the Vietnam Economic and CulturalOffice in Taipei to contact local competent authorities to seek fullinformation on the case and coordinate to settle the issue. The move aims toensure that there is no negative impact on tourism activities andpeople-to-people exchanges between the two sides.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and relevant agenciesare urged to cooperate in handling the case.

Taiwanese authorities said that investigation is underway into the case. In theimmediate future, Taiwan plans to stop granting group visas for theVietnam-based International Holidays Trading Travel Company which arrangeditineraries for the missing tourists.-VNA
