Foreign tourist arrivals hit over 1 million again

International tourist arrivals to Vietnam exceeded 1 million again in October, an increase of 5 percent over September and 24.7 percent from the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office.

– International touristarrivals to Vietnam exceeded 1 million again in October, an increase of 5percent over September and 24.7 percent from the same period last year, accordingto the General Statistics Office.

It was the seventh month since the beginningof this year Vietnam has welcomed more than 1 million foreign visitors.

The highest growth was seen in travellersfrom Asia with 29.4 percent, followed by those from Africa (23.6 percent) andOceania (20.7 percent).

More than 10.47 million foreigners have visitedthe country in the first 10 months of 2017, up 28.1 percent year-on-year withthe biggest increase of 32.8 percent reported in Asian visitors. Tourists fromthe Republic of Korea rose by 53.9 percent, the highest jump during the periodwhile Chinese came second with a surge of 45.6 percent.

The Vietnam National Administration ofTourism has made efforts to boost tourism since early this year. It has held promotionevents in Australia, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Finland, Denmark,Norway, Sweden and more over the last three months.

It also plans to use the APEC EconomicLeaders’ Week 2017 as an opportunity to promote Vietnam’s beauty to internationalfriends.
