Former Japanese PM presents wheelchairs to Vietnamese disabled

Former Japanese Prime Minister Hatoyama Yukio and the Japanese Friendship Association (JFA) presented 60 wheelchairs to disabled Vietnamese children and Agent Orange victims in Hanoi on March 12.

Hanoi (VNA) – Former Japanese Prime Minister Hatoyama Yukio and the JapaneseFriendship Association (JFA) presented 60 wheelchairs to disabled Vietnamesechildren and Agent Orange victims at a ceremony in Hanoi on March 12.

The recipientscome from the northern provinces of Hung Yen, Ha Nam and Thai Binh, amongothers.

Hatoyama,in his speech, said it is the third time he has donated wheelchairs in Vietnamand wished to rally more funds for the efforts soon.

He saidthat the JFA will help Vietnam clean up dioxin-contaminated areas and makequality wheelchairs.

DeputyHealth Minister Pham Le Tuan thanked the Japanese people for their support toVietnamese people with disabilities.

He recalledthat former PM Hatoyama met disabled children in Vietnam in 2013 and collected50 wheelchairs to send to Vietnam for the first time in September 2014.

In October2015, he sent another 50 wheelchairs to Vietnam.-VNA
