HCM City (VNA) – A forum ontechnology and energy cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea(RoK) will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from June 25 to 27.

This year’s event, co-organised by theState Agency for Technology Innovation under the Ministry of Science andTechnology and the Korea Energy Agency, is designed to bolster exchangesbetween government agencies in the energy sector of Vietnam and the RoK.

It is also hoped to help firms of the RoKshare information and seek chances of investment and technology transfer andcooperation with ministries and localities of Vietnam.

According to organisers, policies on energyand energy saving in Vietnam will be introduced at the forum, along withinformation on development orientations of Vietnam’s electricity system.

In addition, domestic and foreign firmswill be briefed on Vietnam’s policies on renewable energy, as well as planning forenergy sources in the coming time. Incentives for businesses operating inrenewable energy development in localities nationwide will also be presented.

A number of workshops and symposiums willbe arranged within the framework of the forum, notably an event on policies andplanning of Vietnam’s energy sector, and another introducing potential projectsin the south-central and southern regions. -VNA

The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.
