The fourth international conference on Vietnamese studies convened inHanoi on November 26, drawing close to 1,000 scientists from 36countries and territories.
Addressing the event,Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung praised the theme of the event, whichfocuses on Vietnam’s approach to integration and sustainabledevelopment.
Improving international integration insocial sciences and science and technology is an important part in thecountry’s international integration strategy, he said.
Dungsaid the conference, held once in every four years, is an importantevent that offers a chance for scientists and the Vietnamese Governmentto share research results, development experiences and knowledge of aperpetually developing Vietnam with growing power and position,bringing Vietnam closer to the rest of the world.
The event also illustrates the developing network of Vietnamese studies in the world, he added.
The PM said he believed that policy makers will exchange and share theresults of their studies and propose new measures to raise awarenessand sustainable integration and development in Vietnam at theconference.
He expressed his wish thatinternational scientists will continue to stand side-by-side withVietnamese counterparts to build and develop Vietnamese studies in theworld, in particular the establishment of more centres for Vietnamesestudies in foreign countries, which will contribute to the developmentof the science as well boost cooperation between countries for a worldof peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.
The Government leader said he is optimistic that foreign countries,international organisations and scholars will continue to support therenewal, integration and development of Vietnam, and Vietnamese studiesin particular.
