Front leader extends Christmas greetings to Catholics in HCM City

HCM City (VNA)🎃 – Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, on December 22 visited and extended Christmas greetings to Nguyen Nang, Archbishop of the Ho Chi Minh City Archdiocese and President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam.

On behalf of the Party and State's leaders, Chien wished all Catholic priests, dignitaries and followers in the HCM City Archdiocese and the whole country a peaceful and merry Christmas. He acknowledged and highly appreciated the cooperation of Archbishop Nguyen Nang, priests, dignitaries, and the Catholic community to join hands with the entire nation in completing all socio-economic tasks for 2024. He commended their active participation in social affairs, environmental protection, national defence and security, social order and safety, and in improving the quality of life for the people.
Sharing some of the country's upcoming directions and tasks, with a focus on economic development and environmental protection, Chien expressed his hope that the Archbishop and the Catholic community will continue to promote the tradition of “living a good life, following a beautiful religion,” accompany the nation, adhere to the Party's policies and the State's laws, stay united, and contribute to strengthening the great national unity bloc in the national construction and protection cause in the era of the nation’s rise.
He expressed his belief that Catholics will preserve, promote and spread the nation’s good cultural and moral values, actively take part in emulation programmes and movements initiated by the State and the VFF, and contribute more to the city’s development. Archbishop Nguyen Nang pledged to continue encouraging Catholic dignitaries and followers to always support and accompany the Party and the State, faithfully implement the State's policies and laws, live a good life, and actively participate in patriotic emulation movements./.
