G-DORM forum on global sci-tech education opens

Hanoi (VNA) – The Hanoi University of Science andTechnology (HUST) and Japan’s Niigata University co-organised in Hanoi on March4 the G-DORM Forum on Global Sci-Tech Education through cooperation with universitiesin Mekong River countries.

It was part of their short-term student exchange programmefrom February 21- March 4.

Nozomu Tsuboi, deputy head of Niigata University’s EngineeringFaculty, said the G-DORM programme has been underway since 2016, with companiesin Niigata prefecture, and universities in the Mekong River region like RoyalUniversity of Phnom Penh, National University of Laos, Chulalongkorn Universityof Thailand and HUST taking part.

Human resources trained under the programme are expected to contributeto economic growth in ASEAN 3 and establish a tertiary education framework inAsia.

The programme in Hanoi involve 12 students from HUST and 16students from Niigata University, who worked in groups to learn aboutoperations of two Japanese enterprises in Vietnam, vision and challenges facingthem when expanding abroad.

Experts from HUST and Niigata University presented in-depthstudies on science-tech education amid globalisation.

Participating students gave suggestions about vision forforeign companies in Vietnam, opportunities and challenges in business expansion,among others.-VNA

The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.
