Berlin (VNA) – German experts and representatives from the embassies of ASEANnations in Germany gathered at a forum in Hamburg city on March 2 to seek waysto expand cooperation in vocational training between the two sides.

Theevent, the first of its kind, was jointly hosted by the German Asia-PacificBusiness Association (OAV), the Competence for InternationalCooperation in Vocational Training and Education (iMove) under theFederal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) andthe Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, under the auspices of the German FederalMinistry of Education and Research.

Theforum comprised three sections, through which participants discussedinitiatives on education and measures to boost joint vocational training projectsin the coming time, with a focus placed on the involvement of enterprises inthe work.

Participantshighly valued the on-the-job vocational training of Germany, saying that thisshould be a role model for other nations in the world, including ASEAN membernations.

VietnameseAmbassador to Germany Doan Xuan Hung highlighted Germany’s increasinginvestment flow in Vietnam in many fields, which has laid a foundation for theVietnam-Germany cooperation, including vocational training.

Heunderlined the potential for vocational training cooperation between Vietnamand Germany, particularly in high technology, saying that Vietnam has a youngpopulation and abundant workforces while the country’s vocational trainingfalls short of demand.

Thesame day, the OAV and the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce hosted a trade promotion eventcalled “Liebesmahl”, the 98th of its kind, featuring the role of Asiaand Southeast Asia in the city’s economic development.-VNA
