Global top players compete at billiards World Cup in HCM City

The world’s top 32 players in three-cushion carom billiards are showing off their skills at the World Cup in Ho Chi Minh City, which opened on May 20.

HCM City (VNA)🐈 – The world’s top 32 players in three-cushion carom billiards are showing off their skills at the World Cup in Ho Chi Minh City, which opened on May 20.

They include Torbjorn Blomdahl from Sweden (the world’s No.1), Daniel Sanchez from Spain (No.2), Dick Jaspers from the Netherlands (No.3), Frederic Caudron from Belgium (No.4), and Eddy Merckx from Belgium (No.5).
Host Vietnam has six players at the three-day tournament, which is taking place at Nguyen Du Sports Complex. They will vie for prizes totaling 40,000 EUR, including 5,500 EUR for the champion.
From May 16 – 19, more than 100 players from nearly 20 countries and territories competed in four qualifying rounds, and the best 15 athletes advanced to the official round of the HCM City World Cup. The other 17 players are those with high world rankings. On the first day of the World Cup, Vietnam’s Duong Anh Vu and Truong Quang Hao respectively defeated Dong Koong Kang and Seo Hyun Min from the Republic of Korea (RoK). Ma Minh Cam won against Coklu Murat Naci from Turkey. Other Vietnamese players Tran Quyet Chien and Ly The Vinh lost to their RoK and Dutch rivals, respectively.-VNA

💯 Vietnamese culture takes centre stage in Korean city

The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
