Government Office, JICA cooperate in building e-Government

The Vietnamese Government Office and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on September 14 signed a Record of Discussion for Project to Build Professional and Efficient State Operation for Improvement of Business Environment.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Government Office and the JapanInternational Cooperation Agency (JICA) on September 14 signed a Record ofDiscussion for Project to Build Professional and Efficient State Operation forImprovement of Business Environment.

Under the document, training courses in Vietnam and Japan will be given toofficials of the Government Office and relevant ministries and agencies whileconferences and talks will be held in Vietnam, with focus on developinge-Government and bettering business climate.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister, Chairman of the Government OfficeMai Tien Dung thanked the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and JICA for their effectivecoordination with Vietnamese agencies in general and the Government Office inparticular.

Right from the beginning of the 2016-2021 tenure, the Government and the PrimeMinister ordered the building of an action-oriented, development-enablinggovernment of integrity in service of people and businesses, with due attentionpaid to administrative reform and business climate improvement to push economicgrowth and enhance local livelihoods, he said.

Laying stress on the Industry 4.0 trend, Dung said that building e-Governmentis an overriding priority of the Government. The Prime Minister already set upthe National Committee for E-Government, tasked with researching and proposingguidelines, strategies, mechanisms and policies to create legal environmentfavourable for the development of an e-Government towards a digital economy.

As Japan has considerable experience in developing e-Government, theJICA-funded project will help Vietnamese officials to enhance their capacity inthe fields, he said, expressing his hope that JICA will continue cooperationwith the Government Office to bolster socio-economic development, andcontribute to the friendship and collaboration between the two countries.

JICA President Shinichi Kitaoka, for his part, wished that the freshly signedrecord of discussion will play an important role in carrying out e-Governmentin Vietnam.

Through the project, the two nations will share experience in buildinge-Government in both sides, he added.-VNA
