Gov't issues resolution on support for disaster-hit localities
The Government on November 5 issued Resolution No 165/NQ-CP on providing aid to address housing damage caused by natural disasters in central and Central Highlands localities in October.

Hanoi (VNA)൩ - The Government on November 5 issued Resolution No 165/NQ-CP on providing aid to address housing damage caused by natural disasters in central and CentralHighlands localities in October.
Beneficiary provinces include Nghe An, HaTinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh,Phu Yen, Gia Lai, and Kon Tum.
Families with destroyed houses will receive a maximum of 40 million VND (1,730USD) each, while those with houses simply in need of repair will receive 10million VND each.
🦂 Chairpersons of provincial People’s Committees must review and classify thelevel of damage to housing in their localities and report to the Finance Ministryand Prime Minister before November 20.
Provinces not submitting a report beforethis date must use their own funds. The Finance Ministry must work closelywith the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the CentralSteering Committee on Disaster Prevention and Control to report to theGovernment on the use of the aid from the central budget in each locality. The support must be provided in atimely, open and transparent manner, the resolution stated./.
Since late September, 235 people have been reported dead and missing by consecutive storms and floods, which have also caused an estimated economic loss of about 17 trillion VND (733.4 million USD).
The United Nations Resident Coordinator and the Country Director of Save the Children on behalf of the Disaster Management Group have issued the 2020 Vietnam flood response plan to raise 40 million USD to provide assistance for 177,000 of the most vulnerable flood-affected people hard hit in the central region.
