Gov’t provides 335 bln VND for disaster-hit provinces

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on December 3 signed a decision to extract 335 billion VND from the State budget and 8,600 tonnes of rice to support 11 provinces stricken by natural disasters.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on December 3 signed a decision toentrust the Finance Ministry to extract 335 billion VND from the Statebudget and 8,600 tonnes of rice from the national reserve to support 11provinces stricken by natural disasters.

Thebeneficiary localities include Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam ,Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, DakLak and Thai Nguyen.

The PM also asked the Ministryof Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to continue keeping close watchto the scarcity of food and hunger in localities hit by floods andreport to him.

Chairmen of the provincial People’sCommittees will be responsible for effectively managing and using theallocated cash and rice as well as actively mobilising the local budgetand other legal financial resources for surmounting the consequences ofnatural disasters, according to the decision.

On thesame day, the PM signed another decision to provide lifeboats,chemicals and vaccines for Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien-Hue, and QuangNgai provinces./.
