Ha Nam collects over 6,000 blood units during Red Spring Festival
As many as 6,077 blood units were donated in the northern province of Ha Nam during the Red Spring Festival from December 8, 2023 to March 17 this year.

Ha Nam (VNA) – As many as 6,077 blood units were donated in the northernprovince of Ha Nam during the Red Spring Festival from December 8, 2023 toMarch 17 this year.
The figureincreased 2,475 units from the target, the province’s steering committee for voluntaryblood donation said, noting that 16 blood donation events were held during the annualfestival.
Somelocalities recording high results include Phu Ly city with 677 blood units, equivalentto 135% of its target; Kim Bang district, 634 units, 126%; and Duy Tien township 595units, 119%, statistics showed.
The achievementwas partly attributed to the Ha Nam Red Cross Society’s coordination withdepartments, sectors, and localities in boosting communications to raise publicawareness of benefits from voluntary blood donation and encourage people of allsocial strata to join in the campaign.
Tong VanTam, President of the Ha Nam Red Cross Society, said that to bolster the voluntaryblood donation movement, his organisation will continue working with relevantparties to step up awareness improving communications, bring into play the corerole of the youth, members of armed forces, and workers in the movement, and giverewards and commendation to outstanding performers in a timely manner./.
More than 1.5 million units of blood were donated nationwide in 2023, with 99% of which came from voluntary blood givers who account for 1.5% of the total population, heard a conference to review the voluntary blood donation work in Hanoi on January 12.
