Hai Duong police said on May 21 that they have arrested a woman for trafficking 30 bricks of heroin, the largest amount ever seized in the northern province.

Hai Duong (VNA) – Hai Duong police said on May 21that they have arrested a woman for trafficking 30 bricks of heroin, the largestamount ever seized in the northern province.
The suspect is Dao Thi Hai, born in 1968 and residing in LeChan district in the northern city of Hai Phong.
Hai was caught in Hai Duong’s Tu Ky district on May 20 afterthe police searched her car and found the drug hidden inside two rice sacks anda backpack. The bricks weighed 10.5 kg in total.
The car was driven by Luu Ngoc Duong – Hai’s son, born in1986 – along with Duong’s two children seated inside.
At the police station, Hai admitted she received the drugfrom an unacquainted man earlier the same day. He hired her to transport itfrom Thai Binh province to an overpass in Hai Phong. She accepted the 20million VND (854 USD) deal without telling her son.
Hai has a criminal record of drug use, gambling, and neglectingto denounce criminals.
She is now under temporary custody, while competent agenciesare completing necessary documents for criminal proceedings against andcarrying out further investigation into the case. –VNA
Police in the northern mountainous province of Son La arrested a suspect illegally transporting nearly 6.5 kilogrammes of heroin in Long Luong commune, Van Ho district, on April 17.
Police in collaboration with border guard and customs forces in the northern border province of Son La on April 20 caught a suspect red handed trafficking 17 heroin bricks, weighing about 6kg.
The cooperation between the Son La province border guard force, the Vietnam Border Guard High Command’s anti-drug department and competent agencies of the Lao Houaphan and Luang Prabang provinces has successfully put an end to several major drugs cases in contribution to curbing the crime along the Vietnam – Laos borderline.
Vietnamese security forces are fighting day and night to stop the flow of drugs into the country, said panellists during an online conference host by the Vietnam Government Portal on May 8.
