Hanoi launches tourism programme, recognises Hai Ba Trung heritage site

Hanoi (VNA) 💝– The "Get on Hanoi 2025" tourism programme officially kicked off on March 4, alongside the announcement of the Hanoi People's Committee decision recognising the special national relic site of Hai Ba Trung temple, pagoda, and communal house as a tourist site.

Coinciding with the 1,985th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung Uprising (40–2025), the event represents a significant milestone in Hanoi’s sustainable tourism strategy. It also marks the start of an exciting year for the sector, with over 60 festivals, promotional campaigns, and cultural events scheduled throughout the year. According to Dang Huong Giang, Director of Hanoi’s Department of Tourism, tourism continues to be a key economic driver for the capital, with notable growth in both visitor numbers and revenue. In 2024, Hanoi welcomed 27.88 million visitors, a 12.7% increase compared to 2023, including 6.37 million international arrivals, up 34.8%. Tourism revenue reached 110.66 trillion VND (4.33 billion USD), an 18.5% year-on-year rise.

The city also earned several prestigious tourism awards in 2024, including "Asia’s Leading City Destination" and "Vietnam’s Leading Cultural Destination" from the World Travel Awards, third place in TripAdvisor’s Top 25 Popular Destinations worldwide, and a spot among the top 25 most beloved destinations of all time.
At the event, Nguyen Hng Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, officially announced the designation of the Hai Ba Trung temple, pagoda, and communal house complex as a tourist site. This heritage site is renowned for its unique cultural and architectural significance, reflecting Vietnam’s rich religious and historical traditions. The recognition aims to further develop the site into a "safe, civilised, and welcoming destination," reinforcing its status as one of Hanoi’s most distinctive cultural and tourism landmarks./.
