Hanoi police arrest transporters with over 16.3 kg of heroin
Hanoi’s narcotics police have caught two men for illegally transporting a large amount of heroin from the mountainous Northwest for retail dealers in the capital city.

Hanoi(VNA) – Hanoi’s narcotics police have caught two men for illegally transportinga large amount of heroin from the mountainous Northwest for retail dealers inthe capital city.
Ta Anh Tuan, 38, andNguyen Hong Quan, 35, both from Hanoi, were arrested when carrying 47 cakes ofheroin, weighing more than 16.3 kilogrammes, and about 19.7 grammes of methamphetamineduring the drug squad police’s operation on December 5.
Their pickup truckwas stopped by the police in Tay Dang township, Ba Vi district of Hanoi at 5:00am while they were on the way to bring the drugs from Son La to Hanoi.
Tuan and Quan toldthe police that they were hired by someone from Loong Luong commune, Van Hodistrict of Son La to transport the drugs for 120 million VND (5,280 USD).
Police in Hanoi’s Thanh Xuan district have arrested Giang A Senh, a local of Mai Chau district, the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh for allegedly transporting about 7kgs of heroin.
Local authorities say that the number of ethnic minority juveniles engaging in drug trafficking at the Vietnamese-Lao border in the central province of Quang Tri has increased sharply over the last five years.
Hanoi’s customs officers in collaboration with forces from the Ministry of Public Security have busted a drug trafficking ring using express postal services.
Two men were arrested on November 17 in Na Meo commune, Quan Son district, the central province of Thanh Hoa, for allegedly transporting 26,200 methamphetamine pills.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
