Hanoi’s youths begin voluntary activities in Vientiane

Hanoi’s young people began a series of voluntary activities as part of the “Green Summer” campaign in the Lao capital city of Vientiane on August 18.

Vientiane (VNA) – Hanoi’s young people began aseries of voluntary activities as part of the “Green Summer” campaign in theLao capital city of Vientiane on August 18. 

During the week-long campaign, they will offer free healthcheck-ups and medicines to 1,500 people in Sikhottabong district, instructlocal residents on measures to prevent diseases and accidental injuries, growplants and raise cattle, as well as present gifts and build houses of gratitudeto poor households.

Hanoi’s Youth Union also granted office supplies to counterpartsin Vientiane and Sikhottabong district. The total cost this year amounts tomore than 700 million VND.

Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union and head of theVietnamese delegation Nguyen Ngoc Viet said the activities will help tightensolidarity and friendship between young people of the two countries.

It was the 10th consecutive year Hanoi’s HoChi Minh Communist Youth Union and Vietnam Youth Federation have organisedvoluntary activities in Vientiane.-VNA
