Hanoi (VNA)🌼 - Solidarity is a precious tradition of the Vietnamese people, a fundamental source of strength ensuring the nation's survival and development. It serves as a guiding principle, a strategic direction, and a decisive factor in the success of the Vietnamese revolution.
For 95 years, maintaining unity and cohesion within the Party has been a crucial principle in the construction and growth of the Communist Party of Vietnam. This unity has been the driving force behind the Party's mettle and strength and combat strength, enabling it to lead the nation through historic milestones, from the struggle for national liberation to the continued efforts in building and safeguarding the country.
The source of strength and momentum for national development
During the Ho Chi Minh era, fostering the spirit of solidarity was established as a strategic guideline of the Vietnamese revolution, serving as the primary source of strength and motivation, as well as a decisive factor in ensuring the enduring success of national construction and defence. President Ho Chi Minh repeatedly emphasised: "Solidarity, solidarity, great solidarity. Success, success, great success."
In his ideological system, great national solidarity was a core principle that shaped the revolution, a legacy the Communist Party of Vietnam has upheld and successfully applied in national construction and defence.

He emphasised that the greatest strength lies in the people: “Under the sky, nothing is more precious than the people. In the world, nothing is stronger than the united force of the people.” Uniting the people will create the greatest power.
He advocated for an inclusive approach to solidarity, stating that "great solidarity means, first and foremost, uniting the vast majority of the people - workers, farmers, and all labouring classes. That is the foundation of great solidarity, like the foundation of a house or the roots of a tree. However, beyond this foundation, we must unite all other social groups, even those who previously opposed us, as long as they sincerely support peace, unity, independence, and democracy."
He said great national unity is not only the foremost goal and task of the Party but also the top priority of the entire nation.

As the founder and mentor of the Party, President Ho Chi Minh placed great emphasis on Party building, believing that the Party leadership is the decisive factor in every victory of the Vietnamese revolution.
In Party building, the issue of unity within the Party is one of its fundamental principles, representing the movement and development in accordance with the Party regulations. Unity and solidarity within the Party form the foundation for building a great national unity bloc. If the Party leads and holds power without unity, the revolutionary cause of the nation cannot succeed.

Throughout every revolutionary period, the Party has consistently affirmed that solidarity is an invaluable tradition, a strategic guideline, and the very foundation of strength, serving as the core value and primary driving force of the Vietnamese revolution. This unity has been decisive in the success of national construction and defense across all historical phases.
Since its inception, the Party has been deeply intertwined with the nation, evolving alongside the people and drawing its strength from them. Within its membership are individuals from diverse social backgrounds, primarily workers and farmers, all bound by a shared ideal, goal, and interest. This ideal is the liberation of the nation, social classes, and humanity. The ultimate goal is national independence and socialism, striving for prosperous people and a strong, democratic, just, and civilised country. The Party holds no private interests; its sole purpose is to serve the working class, the people, and the nation. This shared vision, mission, and dedication form the bedrock of unity and cohesion within the Party, making solidarity the key driver of its growth and success.
The Party has always prioritised fostering great national unity by mobilising and organising the people into a unified, structured force. This unity has been instrumental in securing independence, freedom, and national reunification in the past and continues to be a pillar of national development and defence today. This commitment is embodied in the establishment and continuous evolution of the National United Front, now known as the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
The foundation of Vietnam’s great national unity is built upon the alliance of the working class, the peasantry, and the intellectual community under the Party. This unity is strengthened by the deep-rooted bond between the Party and the people, public trust in the Party, the State, and the socialist system, as well as solidarity among different social classes, ethnic communities, and religious groups. It also extends beyond borders, fostering connections between Vietnamese people at home and abroad while reinforcing ties with peace-loving and progressive forces worldwide.
United by a common goal, Vietnam remains steadfast in its pursuit of a peaceful, independent, unified, and sovereign nation—one that continues to grow in prosperity, modernity, and well-being for its people.

The Party has consistently worked to strengthen internal unity, ensuring it remains a steadfast vanguard, a strong command, and a loyal servant of the people.
It is this national solidarity, under the Party leadership, that has secured Vietnam’s greatest victories. The revolutionary fervor that expelled French and Japanese forces led to the success of the August Revolution and the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The historic Dien Bien Phu victory, which “resounded across five continents and shook the globe,” ended French colonial rule, paving the way for socialism in the North and solidifying support for the South. The Ho Chi Minh Campaign ultimately liberated the South and reunified the nation.
In the era of national development, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has continued to unite all social classes, mobilising its member organisations to safeguard the legal and legitimate rights and interests of the people, promote democracy, encourage innovation, and enhance social oversight and criticism. It also plays a key role in combating corruption and wastefulness while contributing to a clean and strong Party and administration.
Unity remains the foundation of the Party leadership and the strength of the nation. As President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: “With unwavering solidarity and absolute dedication to serving the people, the working class, and the nation, our Party has united, organised, and led the people from one victory to another since its establishment.”
Entering new era
With a comprehensive approach and concerted policies, the Party has harnessed the strength of national unity, combining it with the power of the era to overcome challenges, safeguard independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and successfully implement national reforms.
Party General Secretary and State President To Lam said at a press conference following the 13th Party Central Committee’s meeting on August 3, 2024: "Nothing is more powerful than unity. Our strength lies in solidarity and consensus. The unity within the Party, the Politburo, and the Central Committee will continue to expand and thrive. This is a proud tradition, an enduring force that has enabled our Party and nation to overcome countless challenges and achieve the goals we have set.”

Over the past 95 years, under the Party leadership, founded and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam has gone through two glorious eras.
The first era was the that of independence, freedom, and socialism construction (1930-1975), beginning in 1930 with the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam. It led to the great victory of the August Revolution in 1945 and the remarkable achievements during the resistance wars against foreign invaders (1946-1975), as well as the significant accomplishments in building socialism in the North from 1954-1975.
The second was the era of national reunification, renovation, and development (1975-2025), starting with the great victory in the resistance against the US, which reunited the country and led the nation toward socialism in 1975. This laid a solid foundation for the country, under the Party leadership, to carry out the renewal process, starting from the sixth Party Congress in 1986, leading to strong and comprehensive development across all sectors.
Now, Vietnam is entering its third era, that of the nation’s rise, which began with the 14th Party Congress, marking 40 years of renovation (1986-2026).
From a war-torn country, Vietnam has risen to become a symbol of peace, stability, hospitality, and a destination for international investors and tourists. From an underdeveloped economy, the country has advanced to become one of the top 40 economies globally, with trade volume ranking in the top 20 countries in the world.
In particular, in 2024, amidst global economic fluctuations, Vietnam made a strong mark with an impressive GDP growth rate of 7.09%, surpassing forecasts and becoming a bright spot for growth in the region. The GDP per capita, in current prices, is estimated at 114 million VND per person, equivalent to 4,700 USD, an increase of 377 USD compared to 2023.
From a country that was isolated and besieged, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 193 member states of the United Nations, forming strategic and comprehensive partnerships with 30 countries, including all major powers. It is also an active member of over 70 regional and international organisations.
People’s living standards have significantly improved. The quality of life has steadily increased with investments in health care, education, training, science, and technology.

Vietnam's international standing and reputation have steadily risen.
With the goal of ensuring the happiness and prosperity of its people, Vietnam has achieved the Millennium Development Goals ahead of schedule. The United Nations and international friends regard this as a success story, a shining example of poverty eradication, hunger reduction, and the continuous improvement of both the material and spiritual well-being of the people.
Party General Secretary To Lam emphasised: "The results and achievements we have attained are due to the Party's sound and skillful leadership, the unity and solidarity of the entire Party, people, and army, with the vital role of the great national unity bloc, and the contributions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organisations."
At the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term, which opened on October 17, 2024, Party General Secretary To Lam highlighted: “After 40 years of national renewal, with new opportunities and circumstances, we are standing at a historic juncture to usher the nation into a new era, that of the nation’s rise. This is an era under the Party leadership, with the successful construction of a prosperous, powerful, democratic, just, and civilised Vietnam. By the mid-21st century, our country will become a socialist-oriented developed nation with high income, fulfilling the aspirations of President Ho Chi Minh and the entire Vietnamese people, and standing shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the world."
To achieve this goal, according to Party General Secretary To Lam, “We must powerfully awaken the patriotic spirit, the desire for contribution, the will for self-reliance, confidence, self-resilience, and national pride, harnessing the great power of the national unity bloc, and combining national strength with that of the era. This is a critical responsibility for the entire Party, people, and army."
In an interview with Vietnam News Agency on the occasion of the 2025 Lunar New Year, Party General Secretary To Lam also stressed: "The era of the nation’s rise is an era of breakthrough and acceleration under the Party leadership, successfully building a prosperous, powerful, democratic, just, civilised, and happy socialist Vietnam that can catch up with and stand alongside the great powers of the world."
General Secretary To Lam pointed out: "The period from now until 2030 is the most crucial phase to establish a new world order. It is also a strategic opportunity and the final stretch of the Vietnamese revolution to achieve the 100-year strategic goal under the Party leadership, laying a solid foundation for the centennial anniversary of the nation's founding. The key is for us to maximise the strength of national unity, the high determination, and great efforts of the entire Party, people, army, and the entire political system realise the aspiration for the nation’s prosperous and happy development."
