HCM City Buddhist Sangha donates ambulances to help with COVID-19 prevention, control

Responding to the call of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha has donated six ambulances to support the prevention and control of COVID-19.

Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) - Responding to the call of Party GeneralSecretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha has donated six ambulances to support the prevention and control of COVID-19. 

Theambulances, worth some 7.2billion VND (around 316,000 USD), will be handed over to hospitals in the city serving the transportation ofCOVID-19 patients.

At the handover ceremony, Nguyen ThanhNhan, Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, sincerelythanked the city's Buddhist Sangha for the timely and meaningful support.

He said with the support from thecentral and local governments, the efforts of the city government and thecooperation of the people of all ethnicities and religions, Ho Chi MinhCity will soon eradicate the epidemic.

Funding for the purchase of the ambulances is contributed by the Tuong Nguyen Pagoda Charity Association and various benefactors.

Overthe past two months, the Tuong Nguyen Pagoda Charity Association has provided morethan 1.2 million free meals, distributed more than 25,000 gifts includingnecessities and rice to residents affected by the pandemic, and donated thousandsof oxygen tanks, 50 ventilators, hundreds of thousands of N95 masks, protective suits and other goods worth a total over 72billion VND./.
