HCM City keen on Belarus’s expertise in urban development

HCM City (VNA) – PermanentVice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem hasexpressed wish that Belarus would share its experience with the city in dealingwith flooding and urban transport.

During a reception in Ho Chi MinhCity on March 30 for Belarusian Deputy Minister of Industry Aleksandr Ogorodnikov,Liem said the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian EconomicUnion, including Belarus, which took effect last year, has provided aspringboard for the two countries to lift two-way trade.

Speaking highly of fruitful resultsof bus manufacturing cooperation between Saigon Transportation MechanicalCorporation and Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) of Belarus, Liem noted that thecity is willing to offer all possible support to MAZ and other Belarusian firmsto do long-term and effective business there.

The host agreed that both sides wouldpartner together in fields of Belarus’s strength such as subway constructiontechnology, training of agricultural engineers and trade connectivity,especially in dairy and meat products.

Ogorodnikov, in reply, affirmed thatBelarus always facilitates all-around cooperation with Vietnamese localities, particularlybetween twinning cities of Minsk and Ho Chi Minh City.

Hailing Ho Chi Minh City’s developmentpotential, the guest said Belarusian enterprises are ready to share experiencein the construction of subway and underground facilities, industrial wastetreatment, and manufacturing of buses and specialised vehicles used in urbanclean-up.-VNA
