Hanoi (VNA) – Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh CityParty Committee Nguyen Van Nen hosted a local reception for visiting Speaker ofthe National Assembly of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Park Byeong-seug onNovember 4.
Expressing his delight at the development of the Vietnam –RoK strategic cooperative partnership, Nen said ties between the city and theRoK as well as its localities and partners have been growing over the past years.
He wished that the visit would contribute to popularisingthe city as a trustworthy destination for RoK investors.
According to him, there remains room for the development oflocality-to-locality cooperation. The city is seeking partners and resourcesfor several fields in the next five years such as wastewater and solid wastetreatment, flooding prevention, smart urban, and financial centre development.
He expressed his hope that with its experience, the RoKcould assist the city in workforce training in information technology (IT),artificial intelligence (AI), health care, tourism, urban management,automation, and logistics.
The host believed that bilateral ties will further expandwith a number of exchange activities.
Park said the RoK considers Ho Chi Minh City a focus of internationalconnectivity to further boost ties between the two nations.
As the RoK is strong in IT and AI, Korean localities andbusinesses are ready to partner with the city in the field, he said.
He also thanked municipal authorities for creatingfavourable conditions to welcome back Korean experts and investors amid COVID-19pandemic. He suggested them offer more support to Korean community in the city,particularly Korean firms and investors to do long-term business there.
The city has so far established cooperative ties with sevenRoK localities. The RoK is now also the third largest investor in the city.
