HCM City learns experience in urban development in Thailand
A delegation of Ho Chi Minh City led by Standing Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Tran Luu Quang have paid visits to Thailand and Malaysia to learn experience in development of smart cities and prevention of flooding and traffic jams.

Hanoi (VNA) 𝔍- A delegation of Ho Chi Minh City led by StandingDeputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Tran Luu Quang has paidvisits to Thailand and Malaysia to learn experience in development of smart citiesand prevention of flooding and traffic jams.
During this visit, the delegation expectedto learn Thailand’s experience in governmental management in urban development,flooding prevention and social housing development. The delegation specifically took heed ofappeal of investments in urban renewal, urban development along canal banks andsocial housing development as the canal system plays an integral part not onlyin the city’s transportation, but in the city’s landscape and drainage systemas well. On November 24, the delegation had ameeting with Frasers Property Holdings Co Ltd which has 20 years of working inHCM City on planning and cooperation models in building and developing smartinnovative districts. Quang emphasized the demand for housing inHCM City while prices of houses in Thailand nearly double in HCM City;therefore, Thai investors will have opportunities if investing in HCM City. He also lauded the idea of the company inmaking use of university premises which can be done in Vietnam. For instance,available land in the Vietnam National University-HCM City is waiting for Thaiinvestors. HCM City will promote foreign investmentsthrough a number of solutions, such as providing the investors the clear landfor projects, joining capital in the business, simplifying administrativeprocedures through ‘electronic single-window system’ in the city’s Departmentof Construction, alongside with urging the State government to amendregulations to pave the way for investors. AfterThailand, the delegation will continue their trip to Malaysia./.
The third Vietnam-Thailand defence policy dialogue took place in Ho Chi Minh City on September 19 under the chair of Vietnam’s Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh and Thailand’s Permanent Secretary of Defence Natt Intracharoen.
