Participants chose the 21-floor Sun Wah Tower in Ho Chi MinhCity, which was built in 1997, as a model to examine its consumption ofelectricity, temperatures, air quality and carbon emission .
Statistics from Japan showed that latest solutions in air treatment andcirculation, water control, lighting and smart control can save up to33.6 percent of energy consumption by the tower, equivalent to 1,585tonnes of carbon dioxide. Speaking at the event, DeputyChairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tat Thanh Cang expressedhope for an early application of low-carbon city model so that HCM Citycan become an eco-friendly metropolis.
Participants also poredover projects on turning organic waste from wholesale markets intomethane, promoting energy efficiency in hotels by the BEMS (BuildingEnergy Management System), and improving environment in publichospitals, among others. A representative from the municipalDepartment of Natural Resources and Environment also reported on thecity’s 2016-2020 scheme to respond to adverse effects of climate change.
