HCM City receives over 1 trillion VND in donation for COVID-19 fight
Ho Chi Minh City has received over 1.03 trillion VND (45.4 million USD) donated by localities, organisations, businesses and individuals at home and abroad to help the city in COVID-19 prevention and control.

HCM City (VNA)🧸 – Ho Chi Minh City has received over 1.03 trillion VND (45.4 million USD) donated by localities, organisations, businesses and individuals at home and abroad to help the city in COVID-19 prevention and control.
On October 2 alone, the city received more than 77 billion VND in cash and transfer to pandemic control and over 1.4 billion VND to purchase COVID-19 vaccines as well as medical supplies and equipment from sponsors, including 2 million rapid test kits worth 88 billion VND donated by VPBank.
Since the beginning of this year, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of HCM City and the committee for raising, receiving and distributing funds for COVID-19 prevention and control have received over 312 billion VND in cash to support the purchase of vaccines against COVID-19 and get food and essential goods with total value of more than 364 billion VND.
Since July 1 to October 2, 194 individuals, businesses and organisations inside and outside the country have donated medical supplies and medicines worth over 2.61 trillion VND.
🐠 The committee and municipal authorities have so far distributed over 853 billion VND in cash and more than 354 billion VND worth of goods to COVID-19 prevention and control activities in the city./.
Indonesian businesses and nationals have presented 169 million VND (7,400 USD) and necessities worth more than 120 million VND to Ho Chi Minh City, which is Vietnam’s current largest COVID-19 hotspot.
Authorities, businesses, and retailers in Ho Chi Minh City are promptly making preparations for reopening retail and distribution activities in “green zones” after a period of strict social distancing.
Starting 6:00pm on September 30, Ho Chi Minh City will further revise COVID-19 preventive measures in the direction of gradually easing social distancing rules, in accordance with the local development of COVID-19 and the Ministry of Health's guidance on risk assessment, the city’s Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said at a press conference on September 30 morning.
The Ho Chi Minh City Centre for Youth Employment Services is implementing a programme dubbed “Zero Vietnamese dong motel – free quick test – get a job immediately” from October 1 to November 30 to support labourers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the managing board of the COVID-19 prevention and control fund of Ho Chi Minh City on October 1 received further aid from businesses for the fight against COVID-19.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
