HCM City to hold first workshop on new MEMS/Sensor technology
The first annual Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS)/Sensors Commercialisation Workshop will be held in HCM City on Nov 9 to enhance public awareness of the potential for MEMS/sensor technologies.

HCM City (VNA) — The first annual Microelectromechanical Systems(MEMS)/Sensors Commercialisation Workshop will be held in HCM City on November9 to enhance public awareness of the potential for MEMS/sensor technologies tosolve many of the world’s problems. “We would like to inform the worldabout Vietnamese potential in high-quality human resources, the big demand forMEMS/sensors; to connect investors with potential projects, to link researcherswith investment funds; and to attract investors in manufacturing MEMS/sensorproducts and create local supply chains,” Dr Le Hoai Quoc, president of the SaiGon High- Tech Park (SHTP), workshop chairman, said. “The workshop’s objectives correlatehighly with the policy of the HCM City leadership, which is to fosterparticipation and dialogue between various stakeholders including governments,scientific and academic communities, and share their knowledge, experiences andmutual interests,” he added. “It is also expected to provide anenlightened and informed understanding as to the viability and importance ofcreating a MEMS/sensor technology infrastructure as the catalyst for thecreation of a critical commercialisation vehicle in Vietnam,” he added. The workshop will featureworld-class experts from the US who will address various MEMS and sensorapplications that will enable an enhanced quality of life for Vietnamesecitizens.Applications to be addressed includethe Internet of Things (IoT) as applied to smart and green cities usingenvironmental monitoring, electronic-medicine (e-medicine) and agri-tech andaqua-technology.
༒ Additionally, an introduction andoverview of MEMS/sensors and a presentation on technology cluster developmentand resulting economic benefits will complete the programme.
Attendees, including investors,corporate managers, technologists, academics/students and governmentadministrators, are encouraged to attend this all-day event that will presentthe most current and significant information on technologies and applicationsfor MEMS/sensors.-VNA
The Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh City-based Saigon High-tech Park on March 29 handed over an investment licence to the Tay San Gon (Western Sai Gon) Vocational College to construct a 25-million-USD technology transfer centre in the city.
