HCM City wants to cooperate with Slovenia in digital transformation, maritime transportation

HCM City (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi MinhCity Vo Van Hoan hosted a reception on May 22 for Tanja Fajon, Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, who is on a workingvisit to the city.
Welcoming the Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister to Ho Chi Minh City for the firsttime, Hoan said that this is an important milestone in the bilateralrelationship between Vietnam and Slovenia in general, and cooperation betweenHo Chi Minh City and the European nation in particular.
He reiterated that Vietnam always attaches importance to itsfriendship with Slovenia, and Ho Chi Minh City always considers the country asa potential partner. Although trade and investment between the two sides are currentlynot commensurate with aspirations, they can develop strongly in the coming timeif businesses make good use of advantages of the EU-Vietnam Free TradeAgreement (EVFTA).
Hoan appreciated Slovenia's achievements in the SmartSpecialisation Strategy and the Digital Slovenia Strategy along with progressin advanced digital technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence(AI), and proposed that the two sides enhance cooperation in digital transformation,innovation, logistics and maritime transportation.
The city leader pledged to create all favourable conditionsfor foreign businesses, including those from Slovenia, adding that the citywill do its utmost to improve its investment environment to welcome Slovenianinvestors.

Tanja Fajon affirmed that her visit is a good chance for thetwo sides to strengthen mutual understanding and promote cooperation betweenthe two business communities.
Slovenia always opens its door to Vietnamesebusinesses; and she is willing to introduce Vietnam’s investment opportunities tothe Slovenian business community, the deputy PM said.
Appreciating the development potential of Ho Chi Minh City, theSlovenian Deputy PM said that many large Slovenian enterprises accompanying herthis time will find useful information about cooperation opportunities in thefields that both sides have advantages and needs such as seaport development,digital transformation, smart city building and tourism.
Ho Chi Minh City and Slovenia can also share experience ingreen growth issues, through diversifying energy sources, and reducingemissions towards the goal of sustainable development, she added./.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Slovenia Nguyen Trung Kien had working sessions with representatives of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and agencies on November 22 and 23 to discuss measures to promote cooperation between the two countries.
Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State place great importance on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia in a substantive and effective manner, in line with the development needs of both nations.
At the conference, participants reported that the Government has so far issued 28 decrees on the delegation of responsibilities and powers between the central Government and two-tier local administrations. Several localities have already piloted the new governance model.
